Southern Sri Lankan beach is famous for surfing, you can hire surfing gear and there are surfing class and camps along the southern beach. There are no incidents of shark attacks and shark have not been sighted anywhere in southern beach. Mdiha beach 1 km from the Culture Resort is unspoiled beach ideal for surfing. If you need to be bit more adventurous and socialize Weligama beach is the ideal place for surfing especially for beginners.
